A coal fired power plant. The gases can be carried hundreds of kilometers in the atmosphere before they are converted to acids and deposited. A logical way to stop this is a smokestack scrubber, which absorbs all of the sulfur as it passes through, this can reduce sulfur emissions by up to 90%.
