Global Warming and Polar Bears
Global warming has many effects on our planet. Among the effects from green house gases is a world-wide rise in temperature. This rise in temperature leads to the melting of the ice caps. Polar bears call these ice caps home, it is their habitat. The shrinking of polar ice is leading to a loss of places for polar bears to live and hunt. In fact, anything else living in the arctic is disappearing as well, leading to a scarcity of food for polar bears. Though polar bears can swim, as the ice moves further apart and disappears the seas will become rougher, and swimming becomes more dangerous. As a result, the polar bear population is rapidly shrinking. It is estimated that by 2050 the population of polar bears will have shrank by two thirds!
