violent weather

Tornadoes are formed during the warm months of the year and are created by thunderstorms, which have strong frontal systems, with warm and cold air mixing creating heavy rain and high winds. Some of the most famous tornadoes in history are the Tri-State Tornado, Palm Sunday Tornado Outbreak and the New Richmond Tornado. The Tri-State Tornado was by far the deadliest in US history, it occurred on March 18th 1925. It covered 3 states (219 miles) in 3 hours, killing over 695 people and injuring over 2,000 others,. The damage it created was life changing. It is known on the tornado scale as an F5 tornado.
