Ping Pong Ball Anemometers ???

When thinking of anemometers, you think of:

However, what some people don't know is that there are various types of devices that each measure wind speed, one of them including a ping pong ball anemometer. It is one of the most basic types of anemometers, where a ping pong ball is simply attached to a string. When the wind blows horizontally against the ball, it causes it to move, as a ping pong ball is very light weight and easily moved. Therefore, measuring the angle between the string ball device and the vertical, gives an estimated wind speed! Although this device is not as precise as that of other anemometers, it is perfect for those learning about the concept of wind speed and want to test it out themselves.
