Tortoises

Tortoises can withstand ground temperatures of up to 82.2°C. They use muscular forearms to burrow into the ground, where it's cooler. About 95% of their lives are spent trying to avoid the heat. They also make rain basins to catch rain and they remember locations in order to return to drink. Their shells are also a good, but not entirely effective shield from predators.
