Adaptations
The desert is the home of many cacti and other xerophytes (plants that adapt to dry conditions). In the deserts of Arizona, you will find many cacti in all shapes and sizes. The thick structures of the trunk; allows a cactus to store amounts of water. The thorns are used as a form of self defense or form of protection. Protection from herbivores that are looking for food sources.
